Description
This is my favorite item on the menu of one of favorite restaurants, Burma Superstar.
The traditional Burmese dish is served with each of the ingredients separated on a plate. The wait person then explains what each of them are, squeezers a lemon over the top and mixes it all together. Despite the embarrassment for the waiter and me, I made him do it on camera.
Because you cant really hear his shy little voice I'll tell you what the ingredients are. Tomato, peanuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, fried garlic, dried shrimp, romaine lettuce & lemon.
Its roasty, nuty and fresh... I love it.

Chas Wareing · sure, but were you at the burma cyclone relief benefit at gallery lounge last night? ;)
puja · love this--one of our favorites. also, did you know there is now a burma superstar in alameda? no need to travel into the city and wait in a 2 hour long line!
abt · Awesome that you got the dude to do it on camera! I need to branch out to Alameda more. That dish looks dope.
Dana B. · it is the one in Alameda and so far I think the food is a step up from the S.F. location.
Dana B. · Yeah man we should go some time.
christahey · Okay, let's schedule another outing. Maybe this time on a night where I don't already have dinner plans. I want to eat this salad.
Jenn · Looks very tasty! Just one question... why do they call it "tea leaf" salad?
Jenn · Nevermind that question -- the Burma Superstar menu answered it, by mentioning that imported Burmese tea leaves are included. :)
Dana B. · woops... left that part out.
mct · So when? Two weeks from now maybe? Like a Tuesday?
Miguel
