The One-Handed Cook: Omelette

Description

Okay, I have two hands, but one is caught up in doing really lousy camerawork.

Here, I made an omelette in the manner that I learned from Julia Child. It's simple and delicious, and I hope the rocky camera doesn't put you off your food.

Also, serious apologies for the prolonged shots of the countertop and my feet, and for the parts where I apparently have my fingers over the microphone. The next installment of TO-HC will certainly be steadier and more uniformly audible.

Jenn · Very fun to watch! Who knew you could cook an omelet so quickly and over such high heat? Maybe that's why I've never had any success with it!

Marta · I made your omelette (with both hands though!!) for breakfast this morning, and it tasted delicious! I'd never used water in an omelette before and i think it really adds to the taste!
Thanks for the great tip!

And btw, the video was hilarious!

Joy the Baker · Great and hilarious video.  I just watched the Julia Child version a day or two ago.  She sure does make that omelette flipping look so easy!

lara · Thank you! I hear Julia used a pan full of dried beans to practice flipping with. I haven't tried that yet, but will report back if I do.
