Chocolatey Hot Chocolate

Instructions

Fill mug with hot water. Set aside.

Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking frequently.

Add chocolate. Whisk constantly, taking care to scrape bottom of pan, until chocolate is completely melted and milk is hot but not boiling. Remove from heat.

Add vanilla extract. Add almond extract and liqueur (if desired).

Drain mug of hot water and fill with hot chocolate.

For an added flourish, garnish with marshmallows or whipped cream.
