Quinn's Lighthouse - Oakland

Posted by Tim on 11-11-08 in Tim's Blog with 33 Tiny 9 Tiny
A total dad restaurant (as evidenced by my being brought there by my dad) on the waterfront across from Coast Guard (née Government) Island on the Embarcadero in Oakland.  The only place I've ever dined that combines peanut shells on the floor with a double digit rosé wine list.  The food was pretty much your standard but solid pub fare, but there's a lot to recommend about this place, including the aforementioned wine list and peanuts, its historical lighthouse setting and waterfront locale, the area being lousy with nice looking cats, thoughtful suggested beer & food pairings and more.  I look forward to returning here when I don't have to go back to work afterwards, and my options for substantial dining and intermediate drinking are more open.

Tim · Let's go soon.  It's kinda at the end of the Embarcadero, along the waterfront, right before you get to the bridge to Alameda at Park Street.  Right across from they mysterious Government Island:

Tim · Yeah, it's way deeper down the Embarcadero than I'd ever been.  Almost to Alameda.

Sarah Lynn · Is this the place where they have a live band on certain nights playing sea chanties (sp?)? mct, I think we mentioned this place a while back! We wanna go, too!

Tim · Yeah, I'm pretty sure they do have live music, though I can't vouch for its shantyness.

Sarah Lynn · Also, it's funny - the reason I heard about this place was because my friend's dad was in town and wanted to go. Truly must be a "dad restaurant". Haha.

Liisa · They also have a great deck on the 2nd floor that can't be beat for sitting out and looking at the boats in the harbor on a sunny afternoon.  I've enjoyed their lunches more than dinners...I think that's the "pub food" aspect - stick with burgers and simpler stuff and you'll be happy.
