Jessica Does Bananas!

Posted by jessica on 10-09-08 in jessica's Blog with 9 Tiny
I have to say, at the expense sounding a bit full of myself, that I have always done banana bread quite well. It's probably the first thing I ever really baked. I got my recipe from the cookbook that was in nearly every household I have ever known- the red gingham plaid Better Homes and Gardens book. Honestly I have not used this book for much else but I will always be indebted to it. After I realized how simple banana bread is (we all do it quite well, don't we?) I began to fool around with it a bit. I tried adding different nuts, spices, raisins, chocolate chips, and my favorite cream cheese frosting. In fact, I was able to pass them off as cupcakes at my sons preschool.
So anyway, now that my recipe is significantly altered, perfected, and spectacular (I know- I'm tooting my own banana bread horn) I have decided to share it with you. This time I made them with a new twist, hazelnuts and a little blob of Nutella in the center.
First I made the bread batter. I lined a cupcake pan with little liners and put about 1/8 cup of  batter in the bottom of each. Just enough to cover the bottom. then I added a blob of Nutella.banana nutella pt1
I did not measure but it was probably somewhere between a teaspoon and a tablespoon. Use your judgment! Then I covered the Nutella with about 1/8 to 1/4 cup of batter.
Just try to cover them evenly. I baked them for around 20ish minutes and they were perfect. Dan and i both ate 3 last night.
You should totally make these!
