178 US Food Holidays? Why god why?
I was thinking the other day about how much I overeat on the holidays so I went around trying to figure out what food holidays we have here in the US. To my surprise I found 178 of them and they don't even include the ones I was thinking about.
I could have broken this list down chronologically but that'd be boring, I decided to break it down by types of foods. Who the hell makes these up and why do they exist? btw, prepare yourself for September 14th, its "National Cream-filled Donut Day". Donuts FTW!

lara · Whoo! More herbs, less salt day. Sounds just like me!Also, national catfish month and peach month. There's got to be a new recipe in there somewhere.

alice · Lox, Stock and Bagel - the deli/salad bar near my work - is calling April "National Breakfast Month" and is giving everyone free breakfast if they have a receipt for a $6+ lunch.
dan · wait so, you mean if you go there and buy a $6+ lunch and then go back the next day you get free breakfast?
alice · YES! It's crazy. But you also get shamed because you have to say "I want the FREE BREAKFAST..."
